# METADATA Data Description:
#
# Abstract:	This data set contains water-use data for those states where the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer
# system is used. Data are for the three major categories of use (public supply, self-supplied
# industrial, irrigation) for which data were compiled by Maupin and Barber (2005). States
# with water-use data include: Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
#
# Water-use data were used in the introduction of the report to show the significance of the
# aquifer system in those states.
#
# Data were from the year 2000, and were obtained from Maupin and Barber (2005).
# The data will be used in a report to characterize the Cambrian-Ordovician Aquifer System
# as part of the U.S. Geological Survey, National Water-Quality Assessment Program.

# N or n	numeric variable	numeric value preceding code
#
# For example: 15s indicates a 0- to 15-character text variable whereas
# 9N indicates a 0- to 9-digit numeric variable.

# DATA SOURCES: Maupin and Barber (2005): Water-use data for Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer system
# in six states where the aquifer system occurs.
#
# Hutson and others (2004): Total withdrawals for 3 water-use categories in each state.
# Used to calculate the percent of withdrawal for 3 water-used categories in each state
# that comes from the Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer system.
